Warner Bros. Discovery (WBD) have announced changes to how customers access some of their content.
What’s changing?
HBO Max app launches on 26 March 2026.
What this means for EE customers
EE customers will retain the ability to watch TNT Sports. App content will now be housed in the HBO Max app rather than the discovery+ app.
EE TV customers can continue to watch TNT Sports TV channels via the TV guide as usual, and if they have a TV box Pro, Edge, or Apple TV 4K, the HBO Max app will be available on those devices from 26th March 2026 (Apple TV 4K customers will need to download the HBO Max app).
See our help page for further information.

HI @Sharky57
Visit our HBO Max launch and TNT Sports moving from discovery+ | EE page for more information on what you need to do.

Hi, I followed those instructions, although I had activated TNT sports through the discovery app, it didn't work. My EE Tv account showed it was included. But it still didn't work. I asked it to send a code to my email address, that didn't work.
Finally I have sorted it, with help from HBO chat. This is what I had to do;
Open the HBO Max app on the EETV box, click on activate HBO Max (not sign in) this gave access to the App on the TV box but not my mobile or laptop.
I then had to log out and change my password
Once I changed my password I could access on any device
Not quite as simple as the link suggests, but all up and running now 🙂

Could I please request some clarification on what content I should be able to access on HBO Max with my package, which is as follows.
As of today with BT:
Transitioning to EE on 31st March:
Whilst speaking to a BT/EE Guide, the Guide was adamant I would have access to TNT Sports and other content (TV/Movies) on HBO Max. I qustionned this multiple times because I was not convinced, believing I'd only have access to the TNT Sports content, but I was consistently reassured I'd have access to non-sport content.
I've been through all the activation steps and lo and behold I have no access to any content other than TNT Sports. So am I supposed to have access to TV/Movies on HBO Max, or was the Guide I was speaking with incorrect and I require an add-on to my package in order to watch non-sports content on HBO Max?

Sorry for the confusion @ollies1 - your instincts were correct. You only have access to TNT Sports with a Sports subscription from EE TV. You'd need to purchase an add-on directly from HBO Max to watch other content.

Thank you @DarrenDev for clarifying and so promptly!
Is subscribing to HBO Max directly the best option in my case? And how do I do that because when I've selected "Get access" on the app and via TV it simply tells me to speak to BT/EE as my provider.
Additionally, subscribing to HBO Max would not adversely impact the existing TNT Sports plan I have with them?

You cannot add to your subscription from the app or from your TV, however if you visit hbmomax.com and log in with your account there, you can purchase other passes from them directly. It won't affect your subscription with BT/EE.
Note: if hbomax.com shows that your currently subscription is from discovery+ rather than from BT/EE then it probably won't show an option to add other content. If this is the case, try again in a few days - they're still tidying up the data.

Yet i can’t login into the HBOMax app on my Apple TV 4K , says need to activate but then comes up with errors

No activation required @nickbriggs72 - use the same credentials that you logged into discovery+ with.

Thank you @DarrenDev , was able to sub directly through the website and now access content via website, app, and TV.
