True, but seeing as Youview closed down their forum I thought I’d let the lovely people at EE know as they have a share in Youview!

Channel numbering isn't something that anyone has any input in - they're decided by YouView, and asking nicely won't change anything I'm afraid. YouView may decide to change them in future, however it causes a lot of confusion for users, so isn't done without proper planning and reasoning.

Thanks Darren,

totally understand, just a pity that whoever at Youview decided this, didn’t read Sky’s statement that they were replacing Sky Showcase’s channel number with Sky One (106) and do the same on the Youview platform, which would make perfect sense.

But hey, the folks at Youview do make the best decisions for us users! 🫢

@Dav515   @DarrenDev  As I have seen tv adverts indicating that Sky MAX  is now Sky One it would be reasonable for YouView if presented with the  information

Sky Max is changing to Sky ONE and

SKY Showcase is ceasing

to simply assign Sky One the Sky Max channel identity particularly as i suspect the guide  EPG data and recording links seem to be almost seamlessly being continued .

So in my view SKY One seems operationaly a  continuation on Sky Max.

There is a process for reviewing the  YouView channel numbering which I  see little evidence of occuring in recent years.

Given that a lot of the IP channel numbers positions were assigned by YouView long ago and I beleve needed to relect the need  to provide positions for TALKTALK and legacy BT channels many of which i suspect have long since ceased maybe time has come to review.

Yeah you’re absolutely right in your points and I know it was a bit confusing that Sky reverted back to Sky One and on the promos it said it was replacing Sky Max, but that it was taking Sky Showcase’s channel number on the Sky platform.

Plus the fact the promos all say ‘it’s back’ in my mind it made sense to put it back where it was before it left and it would also then match where it is on the Now platform - which is where it was before it was removed.

But hey, it’s not a big deal, just feels messy to see Sky Witness at the top and then other channels before you get to Sky One. Maybe I’m just old skool and got a bit of a kick seeing Sky One back on channel 106 on Sky, where it belongs and would have hoped Youview had followed suit!

Only observations ... I suspect Sky Max going/rebranding was a sensible  decision  to avoid future  confusion when the HBO Max uK launch occur...

Changing  the channel number  shown  in the guide is i suspect  pretty straightforward if the number is spare. However  the way these things appear to work is that a ceased channel  doesn't  immediately disappear  from the EPG  but seems to retain a position for a while displaying information  that it has closed .,and of course the backwards  EPG  still contains data for  the past 7  days.
