I am looking for any advice on the EE TV route I have the broadband being activated this week, however I am wondering what the tv packages are like for example go for the basic £5 tv then add addons through Now TV or is this not possible. I am not sure if EE allow the 4k ultra boost through there tv packages yet so just looking for advice on how to do the tv and best way really as we found sky q we had and all we do is load which ever app we want to watch, very rarely watch live tv so any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

I’m not sure what basic £5 TV service you have found? The basic service, Entertainment, is £20/month, though that is discounted to £5, but only for the first three months. There’s even an offer at that price that includes broadband for the first three months:-
https://ee.co.uk/tv?s_cid=con_ee_dg-home_ess_ppc-brand&esskwid=p80001373029&ess_sacid=71700000118423...
Sky Q does bundled package structures though, very like EE TV does, so I’m not sure about just loading ‘whichever app you want to watch’. This is something you could have done with just Sky broadband, and could do with just EE broadband, though obviously you have to join, and pay for, the subscription apps you want to use individually.
What EE TV offers you, though, is the opportunity to subscribe to a base package, based round Entertainment or Sport, with optional add-ons, such as Now Cinema to Entertainment, or Now (Sky) Sports to the TNT Sport package, or to have the lot. Follow the link above to see what your options are.
You can get Boost with Now from EETV, but not yet Ultra Boost, though it’s coming, date yet to be announced.
EETV also comes with your choice of Box Pro, which is the very latest recording YouView box, or a customised Apple TV box, though that can’t record. Your choice.
Either will allow you to watch whichever live channels, Now or TNT and so on, that you are subscribed to, in the EPG (Programme Guide) just as if they were broadcast channels.
Or, if you have a smart TV or other device with the apps on, you can get every service that EETV provides by subscribing individually, which, depending on what you choose, may work out cheaper, cost the same, or cost more.
Best to decide what you want, price it up individually or in an EETV bundle, figure what the device that EETV will lend you, the combined billing, and the channels in the EPG are worth to you, and decide accordingly.
Any supplementary questions, please do ask.

Yeah this was the offer price of £5, my thoughts on switching from sky as my bill was topping for £63-£65 alone which was everything except sport, so I was looking at options with Apple TV 4k box as we stream mostly anyway. I was not sure if you can add Now add ons on the now website to make use of Now offers etc or if it was all included what is chosen in EE which im guessing that is the case. I was looking at the big entertainment bundle which includes movies and entertainment from sky essentially I do also have the tv launcher app as well which would work for the free to air channels. I was unsure with the 4k boost on now as when you choose big entertainment below that gives option for hd and 4k so I thought that would of been the boost option. The main reason for looking to fully jump over to EE was the fact we dont utilise majority of sky channels offered might use normal tv channels for the news at night then its straight on to an app such as netflix, amazon etc.

Any membership (product subscription) that Now offer, you can get from EETV, but the Now offers aren’t available to you; everything is full price.
You can have EETV, and get Now separately, but your EETV subscription mustn't have anything at all from Now in it, otherwise Now will just refer you back to EETV.
The HD & 4K option only includes Now Boost if you have Entertainment/Big Entertainment/Full Works. If you have Sports/Big Sports, you have to buy Now Boost separately. (This seems rather arbitrary to me, as EETV get a big chunk of change if you take Big Sports, and you’d think they could throw in Now Boost; maybe something EETV could look at).
Whether when EETV finally offers Ultra Boost it will be included in HD & 4K at the current price is an interesting question; there may need to be some name shuffling if not, to anticipate all those “But I thought…” complaints that would otherwise arise.

Another note can you use a third party router with EE TV even though with EE or does it need to be specific router we would be using the apple tv 4k box most likely anyway, just wondered thats all

With the Apple TV, you can use any router you like - though it won't be supported if you have issues with your TV or broadband (you'll be asked to connect the router that was provided).
If you take the TV Box Pro or add any TV Box Minis to your account, they may work with your router, but you're more likely to have issues.

IIRC, there’s an issue between the Box Mini and the EE router at the moment, and nothing to do with the usual culprit, multicast.
Obviously, EE are working very hard to roll out a fix, something they are very well placed to do, but if this had been an issue with a third-party router, it might well have been much more problematic.

Yeah I would more likely go for the Apple TV box but guessing I wont be able to use the EE tv app within the apple tv box with me using a third party router. If so may need to look at a freesat kind of box or something.

The EE TV app on the Apple TV will work fine with a 3rd party router.

Hi. Hope you don’t mind me bothering you. You seem to know what you’re talking about lol.
You mention HD/4k and Now boost. I can’t understand the difference as when I look at HD it says now boost.
I’ve got the big entertainment package and am looking for HD plus to have most advert removed.
Can you advise me what I should be looking at please?
Thank you for your time 🙂
