Now TV Boost Ultra - is this available on EE

Just bought a new tv and wanted to watch sky sports on ultra HD (via Now TV)

Spoke to someone at EE and they said I was paying for the UHD package, but the UHD channels are not available on the guide.  When I go to the Now TV app, I can see that my viewing experience is set up as "boost" rather than "boost ultra". Spoke to a bot at Now TV and they said its down to EE, but the person at EE didn't see how this could be upgraded. 

I don't know if there is something more wrong with EEs infrastructure on UHD for Sky Sports. Hoping someone here will know more. 

I can see i have access to TNT Ultimate HDR though.

@ciaran_gg As a gmail user, you can use different variants of your email address.  e.g. if your email address was [email protected] you could use [email protected]  or [email protected]  or [email protected] - all of these email addresses still come to your same inbox, but Now TV would see them as different accounts.  So there's nothing to stop you setting another account for Ultra if you want.  You'd then remove Now TV Sports from your EE TV package to save money.

When you say artificial limit, I assume you mean because you can't upgrade to 1.6Gbps?  It's not artificial - the ordering system just can't handle migrating from your account to the new system yet.

Hello, sorry of your experience. I have had a lot of issues with EE. 

It seems the staff at EE are not technical  at selling what they give to the public. 

So I try to break it down for you the best I can. 

EE does not sell to the public UHD boost. I hoped to get the UHD boost direct from Bot to do that you need the package. They don't sell it as a one off thing. 

Therefore, like everyone else, you have to wait until it becomes available, but I am not sure when it will be available. Other than that. Go with NowTV itself. 

That is the only thing you can do to get the UHD package. I hope this helps

Look gang it's really simple 

Sky are not offering UHD to anyone unless they pay for Sky or Now directly 

EE is simply a middleman who Sky refuse to offer ultra boost to

It's not coming to EEtv

It is coming though. EE and Sky are in talks and all through what I hear is it'll be happening to get the ultra. Just not yet.

I had no idea 4 years. I enquiried about it just last year. It is down to NowTV they control it. EE can't do a lot on this. I am sure they would if they could. Just proves how bad Rupert Murdoch really is in control.

There has been all sorts of waffle rolled out about this on multiple posts on this over the years. Earlier this year it was claimed it's all down to "upgrades" required to the ordering systems which is just utter nonsense. They'd need to be re-platforming the chuffing Death Star to take this long.

You can get Ultra via Virgin Media so I don't accept the comment on it being Sky's fault.

Just to be clear, EE is owned by BT, a public company quoted on the London Stock Exchange. NowTV is owned by Comcast, an American public company quoted on the Nasdaq stock exchange. Where do you get your information from, and in what way do you think Rupert Murdoch has anything whatsoever to do with either company?

could it be that there are incompatiabilities involved?
I mean we are talking about  4K boost. this means you would need:

Sky Sports Main Event UHD
Sky Sports F1 UHD
Sky Ultra HD (hidden channel so to speak for red button events to switch to it)

these three on the box pro. Definitely the box is capable of it. Depends if it has HLG support.

then we have the Apple TV Box and to my complete knowledge there exists a bug with the official boost ultra offered by now. Whereby the box must be forced into HDR mode for these to appear/work, if set to auto or any other setting, these UHD channels fail to run.

so there is that also. - I do believe there is alot of hurdles to get over, i mean was that long ago TV+1.6 was enabled.. and there are new platforms and systems being migrated. Sure Ultra boost is important but is it that important it floats to the top of the pile? when it comes it will come.
