Moving from Virgin-what will I need ?

Hi, I want to move from Virgin to EE now fibre is available in the area and a little confused as to what I will need to have device wise. Currently we have 3 tivo boxes able to record all our own programs, and would only need 2 devices capable of recording programs when we are out, with another device just to watch live.

Is this possible, and if so what devices would I need to order please.

TIA

You can have the box connected by WiFi to get the apps, but still have a TV aerial connected to record up to 4 programmes at once (Aerial Mode). It’s only if you don’t have an aerial that you would operate the box in IP Mode, and have a selection of channels coming over the WiFi, and limiting you to two recordings at a time.

You could get a second YouView box that can record, though not from EETV, but if it was the older sort, that would need an aerial, and to be wired by Ethernet unless you put a nanorouter on it.

What might be an issue for you though - can you record on one TiVo and watch the recording on another? Because YouView boxes can’t do that - you can only watch the recording on the box that made it,

@coolhand  You can only have 1 TV pro box that is able to record.     You can record 4 programs at any one time on this when in aerial mode ie you  have a TV aerial connected to it or 2 programs when in internet mode ie via WiFi or a Ethernet cable connected to it.

Thank you Chris_B

That's a bit of an issue with only being limited to 2 recordings at a time, as the connection would be via WiFi and we often have more than 2 programs to record at the same time in the house. Also would mean having the recording box in my partners room, as she is pretty much bedridden and would struggle to get in the main living room if it was in there to watch recordings.

We don't have any ariels so would be through Wifi for theTV pro box and 2 recordings at a time would be fine if I get the extra YouView box, which I can connect via Ethernet.

The current Tivo's can be used to watch recordings from each other as I understand it, however it is not something we have ever used, so not bothered about missing this option.

It's been a great help, thank you and have found somewhere that has YouView boxes available. Despite the one off payment for it, the setup would then save us money after about 6 months.

Thanks All
