Yes, you can cut costs considerably @JL1951 , and the fibre upgrade is available now.

You've mentioned Fibre 150 Ultimate, but do you really need Ultimate?  Fibre 150 Core is half the cost, and I don't believe you'd see any benefit from the additional features that Ultimate provides.

You don't need to wait until the end of your contract - you can start a new contract now, get the immediate broadband speed boost, change your TV package to Sport with HD, and reduce your monthly bill to half what it is now - £61.99.  You can choose to add Now Sports for an additional £34.99 a month, choosing just the months you want it turned on (i.e. you can turn it on/off each month, depending if there's additional sport you want to watch).

I could find the products but putting them together and finding a total cost and just what was included seemed impossible for the system without actually buying. Guess when I am feeling brave I will have to give EE a call, I am 75 and not at all tecnically minded which usually confuses me when talking to them as nothing seems to be simple any more!.  ( I wonder if that is a deliberate EE policy ?) talking to other elderly folks recently they all say that they ended up with something they did not want or their costs were too high. Two years ago when my current contract started it was utter confusion caused by EE, the guy I spoke to on a Friday promised he would call me back on the next Monday to sort out my contract as he was having problems with the system at his end, Monday came and went, nothing, late on the next day i called them and referred to that same person only to be told that he was on his annual leave. Really not good enough! I had to start all over again, we now have a split contract March / June as that new contact did not put us on the correct full contract and it all took time to sort out. You can see just why I am not keen to contact them again now!. Horrendous experience that it was!.

Sorry to hear of your poor experience.

There are many options for watching sport. If you can answer these 3 questions, we can advise on your best options and the price:

1. When you say you want sport, do you know which channels? Would TNT Sports be enough? Or do you also want Sky Sports?

2. What devices would you like to watch sport on? If just your TV, do you have a smart TV that you'd be happy to use apps on? Or would you prefer them to appear as TV channels?

3. Do you need to be able to record the programmes? Or are you ok to watch replays in apps?

Hi Darren, many thanks for getting back to me. I list here the details of our current contract, as pensioners we are having to find ways of reducing the cost of living, we have been with BT/EE for many many years. CURRENT CONTRACT, BROADBAND Full works Fibre 67 ( download speed 45Mbps ), says FREE upgrade to Full Fibre when available in your area, checked and says OK @ IP60ET, contract ends on 4/4/26 Broadband costs £66/01 mth + £3.19 for phone = £69.20 mth. ENTERTAINMENT £21.28 +TNT Sports £19.15 with HD and 4K at £6.38 ends 19/6/26 . Would it be possible to somehow get any new contract  together so that in future it is easier to control?. Current cost is a total of £116.01 mth which is far too much for us.

In reply to your three questions    1. I could accept TNT Sports only but as a very keen football fan any other channels would be great if that does not push the cost too high!.

2. Prefer TV channels.

3. We record some programmes on box + watch some in aps!.

Sorry if all of that just confuses things but as I said I am not at all technical.  Thanks again, John.

Thank you Darren for getting back to me. I thought that I had sent a reply earlier but cannot find any trace of it on here!. So in answer to your three questions,  1. TNT Sports only would be OK but as a very keen football fan any others would be nice if it does not push up the cost too much. 2. Prefer TV channels. 3. We record some on box plus watch some in aps. As pensioners we find that we have to reduce the cost of living somehow. Current contract is costing far too much at £116.01 mth, Full Fibre 67, main phone, Entertainment, TNT Sports + HD and 4k. It says that a FREE upgrade to Full Fibre when available in your area will be given?, I checked this and it says OK at <my postcode> Thanks again.  John.

Sorry to need more of your time Darren. The new contract you mention is certainly a better deal, thanks. Before going ahead with that I just did a Google search asking ....What would be the cost of EE Fibre 150 Core with TNT Sports HD ( including Discovery + Premium ) be ?. The answer was really incredible but can this possibly be true as it seems to be the same deal you advised ?....It said total of £34 mth ( 24mth contract ) made up as £27 for Core, plus £7 mth Sport.  Am I missing something here or is this simply not correct, too good to be true !. Thanks John.

Too good to be true I'm afraid.  I'm not aware of any way to get TNT Sports for that cheap.

  • £25.99 for Fibre 150 Core
  • £25 for Sport
  • £6 for HD
  • £5 for telephone service

Total: £61.99 a month

(prices correct as of 23/3/2026 and subject to increase to £67.99 from 31st March 2027).
