EE TV Box turning on by itself

I have recently changed from BT to EE. I now have a black box to control my TV, but the box comes on itself quite often which starts the TV working. I have spoken to EE support and have been given a replacement remote control but I still get the problem. 

There is no pattern that I can identify about when this happens. I see other comments on this Forum about what looks to be the same problem so I am not alone.

I do not like the idea of electrical equipment out of control. Potentially this could be a fire risk.

Is there anyone with a full solution to this?

Same with mine. No activation.  The only other factor than the change is temperatures have dropped considerably in the last week or so.  Could it be heat related?

@DarrenDev  Apologies if this is already known but when an earlier similar issue occured in 2023/24 the overnight software check was the thought to to be the event  involved.

“. We believe the issue is specific to a group of boxes with a particular HDMI configuration where the TV box is reporting a mismatched microcode level which could "trick" the HDMI output into waking up (ACTIVE_ON) during an overnight software check when the normal behaviour would be to remain in ACTIVE_OFF mode.”

Thanks @zulu17. When I mentioned that this issue was occurring, that was the first response - that it was something that had already been fixed.  This one appears to be much more subtle, as it's affecting fewer people and at a less predictable time/rate.

My box hasn't done it for a few weeks now whereas before it was doing it
1-2xwk. Nothing we have done differently though. Bloody gremlins!

Our box hasn't turned itself on recently,  probably 3 weeks or so. 

I turned everything off at the wall about a week ago (30 seconds was suggested, but we turned it off and went out, so it was 2+ hours).

The only other thing we have done (may be coincidence?), is to always leave the remote controls facing away from the tv when it's off now. We don't leave it in standby, always deep sleep.

This is the longest time we've had without it turning itself on.

Ironically it turned itself on this morning. No apparent reason why.

Our box hasn't turned itself on for around 3 to 4 weeks, since we started facing our remote controls away from the tv when it's turned off (may just be coincidence, but it was happening quite often before that)
