I have 3 smart TV's. If I buy an EE pro box do I need 2 EE mini boxes to watch TV on all 3 TV's? Do the mini boxes need a mains socket? Thanks

You don’t buy a Box Pro, or the Box Minis, you are lent them by EETV for as long as your EETV subscription lasts.

Yes, you need the Box Minis if you want to watch what EETV provides via the extended EPG on each TV, and/or use the pause and rewind live TV features, and/or you don’t have tv aerials.

But no if you are happy to just use the apps on two of your aerial-linked smart TVs, where you can log in with your EETV account details.

The Box Minis, like the Box Pro, come with a power adaptor that needs to be plugged into the mains.

Please clarify how you would intend to use the Box Minis for a more definitive answer. And note that the Box Minis do not relay recordings from the Box Pro, unlike with Sky.

If I can't watch what I have recorded on all my TV's then there is no point me having any mini boxes. All of my TV's have an external aerial so I might as well simply watch Freeview Play to stream all my programmes. Also I can take out a subscription direct with Netflix to get their content.

What do I gain by having an EE pro box over Freeview Play?

@yogi1954

As above, to watch what EETV provides via the extended EPG on each TV, and/or use the pause and rewind live TV features.

Now (Entertainment, Cinema and Sport), TNT and Discovery+ don’t get much coverage on Freeview Play.

And even if you get their apps on your smart TVs, you can’t record them; this feature is only available on the Box Pro.

But for somebody who doesn’t want to pause and rewind live TV, doesn’t want to record these extra channels, doesn’t mind taking out individual subscriptions to the differing services and doesn’t mind hopping from app to app to get them, instead of having them all laid out in the extended EPG that EETV provides, then EETV may not be a compelling proposition for them.

This may well be you….

How very patronising

@yogi1954

You mistake my tone, alas - it wasn’t meant to be patronising 😢

It was meant to be a comprehensive description of the criteria  for being in the groups of people who wouldn’t be interested in, nor benefit from, EETV.

See my sig; that was me for years until very recently, when I became part of an us that wanted something simpler and more straightforward.
