Changing from bt to ee new tariff

Evening all, I’ve been a BT broadband user for 5+yrs and still am, I’m currently subscribed to BT sports (TNT now) and an EE mobile phone subscriber, I just bought the TV & TNT sports offer through EE and now I’m not sure what happens with my BT monthly payment to the sports, my new offer is £10 a month on my EE phone bill but am I still going to be charged the £30+ a month for my old package? Will one cancel the other or do I phone BT to notify them of the change? Will there be an exit fee? I believe they are the same company now… sorry if it’s difficult to understand my question but tried to explain as best I could.

Thanks to everyone who responded, greatly appreciated, I phoned BT today who gladly cancelled my TNT sports package with them without any exit fee, I’ll just have to activate my EE TNT sports package when the paperwork arrives, so happy days, thanks again 👍🏼

Hi @Taffrican

Welcome to the community. 🙂

Are you changing your broadband from BT to EE? Is it EE TV and TNT Sports that you've gone for as part of a new broadband deal?

Chris

@Christopher_G

No, there’s an EE (not EETV) promotion whereby if you buy a TV from the EE store, you get a TNT sports promotional offer with it.

So @Taffrican now has a duplicated TNT subscription with BT, at three times the price, which he would understandably like to cease.

Perhaps he should be asking BT about this, but then we know that BT and EE are the same company (except when they aren’t), so what’s the best way for him to get this sorted out?

We might hope that the EE store offer has suitable provisions for existing TNT subscriptions, whether BT or EE.

Ah, yes. That makes much more sense to me now. Thanks @Midnight_Voice.

It is a free service that comes with the TV. However, if there are contractual obligations with BT, it wouldn't override those. It's something that @Taffrican will need to discuss with the BT customer support team.

Hi Chris & midnight voice, thanks for responding. no, I’m with BT on broadband and my mobile phone provider is EE, I’m not transferring to EE until it happens naturally seeing as there appears to be a takeover or amalgamation anyway.

Cheers
Mike

@Taffrican

We understand, But you will need to talk to BT to see where you are with your TNT subscription via them, and whether you can cease it, and under what terms.

Re the amalgamation, as I tell everybody, BT and EE are the same company except when they aren’t 😛

Hi @Taffrican  it will all depend on what your present contracted arrangements are with BT who would not be aware of the new arrangement you have taken with EE so you would need to contact them. You mention currently paying £30+ a month for your old package (with BT). If that  is solely for  watching TNT Sports via the discovery+ app  then I would hope it would be quite straightforward to cancel - the £30.99 price for a discovery+ premium subscription alone is normsally for customers who are outside their minimum  (BT) broadband contract term. For BT broadband customers within their minimum contract term a lower monthlly £20 price is available. In otherwords I would expect if BT are charging you the full retail price for discovery+ premium I would expect that to be on a rolling 30 contract easy to cancel. If however your current £30+  cost includes other services  (ie is a bundled EE TV package or BT broadband deal)  then cancellation may be more complex as you may still be within minumum contract period. Looking at the MyBT  app and seeing what products you currently have you may see an option to manage your TNT sports but otherwise contacting the BT customer service is the way forward.
