Can't watch anything on HBO Max except TNT Sports

Since the move to HBO Max, on the HBO Max app, I can only watch TNT Sport.  Try to watch anything else. e.g. The Pitt, I just get a 'Get Access' type message about this not being available with my package.

I realise that I can watch these on NOW app, but what is the situation with the HBO Max app?

Just to be 100% clear here @imacken

There was only 1 true transition here: TNT Sports moved from discovery+ to HBO Max.

For those with an active subscription, and who remember their discovery+ account details, the transition has been very smooth.  Guidance was provided - i.e. just log in with the same account you already use.  On the TV Box it was even simpler - the app automatically carried the credentials across. This was very successful.

Some complications:

  • Users who forgot their discovery+ details, as they hadn't used them in a log time.
  • Users who activated a Sky subscription for HBO Max with a different email address to their discovery+ account.
  • Users who ended their subscription for TNT Sports but discovery+ had continued to work (a fault on our system), and therefore thought they'd still be entitled to HBO Max.
  • Users who then wanted to upgrade the sport subscription to add entertainment (not commercially something we're allowed to offer).

On the same day (but unrelated to BT/EE):

Now TV have also taken HBO Max content into their app, and THEY also offer access to the HBO Max app.  The key part here is that THEY offer the access - we're not allowed to. We wanted to automatically enable everyone for the app who had a valid Now TV subscription, but we weren't allowed to. The guidance we had prepared to help customers on this was invalidated the day before launch, when processes (not ours) were changed.

I totally understand why you'd want to activate HBO Max - I would be the same.  For those who haven't chosen to take this route, everything is working exactly as it did before. The transition was successful.

It's not a case of programmes not appearing 'in the right place' on Now, they don't appear at all.  I don't have access to these apps atm, but pretty sure an example of this is the film Argo.  Nowhere on Now but immediately watchable on HBO Max.

Argo shows up here on NowTV - have you tried the search function?

Yes I’ve tried the Search function! Doesn’t show for me on Now. All I see is ‘Argo The Inside Story’.

I take back what I said - I confused the two.

Thanks Darren.
Yes, the TNT transition was fine. It’s the whole HBO/Now thing that has been awkward. Not blaming EE/BT, just stating a fact!

So am I right in saying if I have the TNT sports as an extra on the mobile all inclusive  I cannot watch films/series on HBO?

They're not included, but you can purchase an upgrade @lee-roy20 . Please read this post:

@imacken Check out the pinned response at the top of the TV forum. It gives instructions on how to link your NOW subscription with HBO Max.

Already did that some time ago. Doesn’t help the issue being discussed recently. Some content on HBO is not available on Now.

@imacken That'll be down to the deal that Sky/NOW negotiated
