Can’t pause TV programs

Does anyone know why the pause function when watching TV programs works sometimes but not others? The other night the news wouldn’t pause but it did tonight. Thanks

The ability to pause should be the same regardless of programme, but there' a chance you could run into issues if the storage on your TV box was getting near to full. 

This is unlikely on a 1TB hard drive, though.

As a first port of call, I'd recommend doing a full reset on your TV box via the method listed here:

The option where you can keep recordings will be best for now.

There will be some programming when pausing is not permitted , eg when adverts are playing  on some content. Normally you would get a message to say that pausing or skipping is not allowed displayed. Some scenarios where the broadcast programme data or schedule data (epg) are inconsistent with each other might cause issues … ie if the schedule s were being modified due to a late running or postponed sports events.
