Can I use a recordable BT box as my second box instead of the mini?

I've ordered a pro box and 2 minis but still have a recordable BT TV box (DTR-T4000/1Tb). Could I use this instead of one of the minis and would this then give me the ability to record on two boxes? Many thanks in anticipation of any guidance.

Yes, you can use all of your boxes however you like.  If you use the old 4K TV Box in addition to the 3 boxes you've ordered, you'll occasionally see a message telling you you're using too many boxes - you can just accept the message, and it'll move one of the subscriptions across.  You can do this as often as you like. The only thing to be wary of is recordings from IP channels - if the subscription is moved away from a recordable box, any recordings from IP channels on that box will fail until it's moved back.

Thanks again, Darren. If I were to use the old 4k box instead of a mini (so sticking to the 3 limit) would that overcome this issue?

Also, I'm assuming I would have to do a software update on the old BT box to make it EE?

Yes - if you use the 4K box instead of a Mini, you won't see the issue.

The TV Boxes update themselves automatically - all boxes (even for BT customers) will have rebranded to EE TV in 2023 if connected to the internet.  If yours has been offline, it'll pick up the update when it's next connected.

Thanks again. Would I be able to record IP channels on the old BT box and the new EE Pro?

Yes, absolutely. You'll be able to record all the channels on both boxes as normal.
