Did you mean:

The Dark Web

Hello all

I had a notification yesterday regarding my details being on The Dark Web.  I have had my password leaked and I took steps to remove all instances of that password.  No issues since.

This notification came up on my CyberSecurity app.  I tried to look at it and was forced to jump through several hoops just to check the password.  I did all of that and finally got to look at this darn thing.  The password is hopelessly incorrect.  I would never have used this password.  I wouldn't possibly remember it and I have several passwords with personal connections so I know that I would not have used this one.

I am now worried that this wasn't an official notification and I have just given a new password to some scammer, but why would it come up on my Security Icon on my phone?

Hi @Jessica148

Welcome to the community.

Did you change the passwords directly with the sites/apps involved? Do you have a screenshot of the notification, or has it now been removed?

Chris

The notification does seem to be gone - hopefully that indicates it's a genuine alert? I mean, it was a heck of a lot of effort, now that I think about it. I had a number of verifications to pass, so I guess it was genuine. But then i have to consider this security I've bought is not worth a great deal.....
