Dear team/ all,
I received a (very convincing btw) letter from Moorfcroft Debt Recovery siting I owe money. After digging into (chatting and calling them) they say its from EE. I fear (and assume now) its a pure scam as they were very wage why, how, from when is the outstanding sum etc.
Thankfully I did not give them any card details etc. But unfortunately they have now my phone number, home address and DOB. How to deal with them and how to make sure they don't use my details (and first of all how did they get that info)?

Hi @Rinku1
Welcome to the community.
Have you spoken with our Customer Care guides? They will be able to check to see if anything has been sent to Moorcroft through your EE account.
How did you speak to Moorcroft? Was it through a contact number on the suspect letter, or through the Moorcroft website?

I have recently had the exact same thing happen
I called them through the number on the website (different to the one on the letter) and she said that there was money owed to EE they had been passed on this debt (that doesn’t exist) in February 2025 . She gave me an account number to pass on
I have checked with EE who can’t see any out standing debt on my one and only account (which I knew there was none)
my worry is 1 how have they got my details 2 is this going to effect my credit score 3 has someone opened an account with my name?

Hi @Kay12
Welcome to the Community.
You've done the right thing by ringing Moorcroft directly to get this double checked. If our Guides over the phone could not locate this account with money owed, I think it's worth querying this with our credit file team for further support.
Their email address is crqueries@ee.co.uk, and further information can be found on our help page Credit Files Explained.
I hope this helps,
Linzi

I appreciate you'll want to know more about the details Moorcroft has on file @Kay12
If you speak with our credit file team, I'm confident they can explain things further. We don't have any account access within the Community to review this with you.

I am having the same issue right now.
They sent me an email, I was on the phone with an agetn from ee that confirmed that I've had the same account for 12 years and that I don't have any outstanding debit.
I also sent an email to crqueries@ee.co.uk asking for explanations and I'm waiting for an answer.
The fact that EE would just give away my personal details like this is beyond alarming and completely unacceptable.
I don't know what answer I might receive from the credit file team that would explain this, but right now I'm pretty set on changing provider for good since EE seems keen on giving out its customers' details to what can only be described as a group of predators.
