Received fraudulent EE bill

timellis

Hello EE - I have received a letter from EE about setting up a Direct Debit and a bill from EE which I believe is fraudulent as I don't have an EE account. My name and address are on the letter but bank details are not mine so someone may have set up an account using my name.

Hi @timellis

Did you receive the letter by email or post?

The bank won't process any payments if the account owners details are correct, in fact this should have flagged up at EE end when the account details were entered.

You need to contact EE via https://ee.co.uk/contact-ee

Additionally I would suggest:

  • Report to Action Fraud.
  • Notify your bank to check for any strange or unusual payment requests.
  • Change any email passwords and ensure two stage authentication is activated.
  • Any post with your name and address, (especially bank/credit/financial statements) should be shredded as good practice.
  • Never enter your details into unfamiliar websites.

Thanks
