Just had a call from 0800 048 7022 saying they could reduce my EE Phone Contract by 50%. Pretty sure this is a fake call

Hi @Kers

Thanks for coming to the community.

It's always best to double-check these calls. Following on from @XRaySpeX's advice above on how to report this to us, you can also see phone numbers our partners will call from page. This specific number is not listed, so it's not a genuine call.

It's not EE, 0800 048 numbers are allocated to Vodafone what used to be Cable & Wireless. I've never known EE,Orange or T-Mobile to call from ranges other than their own with the exception of BT ranges usually to offer converged BT/EE products.

Even Vodafone for that matter call from their own Vodafone mobile freephone range 08080.

Even if you get calls from 07973100194 for example which is a number which EE has used for decades when it was Orange, you still have to becareful of spoofing where scammers play with Caller ID.

EE seem to be pretty proactive with scam calls in the last year they've pretty much stopped without me doing anything. It's annoying when you're told to just block them when they ring from different phone numbers every time, that's if they are calling from the same place, its no use if they are from various different places.
