Hi all, quick question - I've got EE Cyber Security installed on my MAcBook. I can't get the VPN to turn on - a message flashed up earlier saying I'm on a public network. I'm at home and def not on public.. Anyone help?
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Has anyone has a resolution for the VPN issue on Mac? I contacted EE about the same issue this afternoon, they logged the issue and said they were aware of issues with Norton, and then put me in a queue to speak to Norton - an hour later and I'm still in a queue listening to some awful music!

Welcome to the community.
Did you get through to speak to someone? Have they managed to get it working for you?

Somewhat, but on the whole not really no.
I was on the phone with Norton for about 1hr 45mins, and was on the phone with EE for about 45mins before that.
When I spoke to Norton it was pretty unhelpful. I explained the issue and the factor that I have the VPN running on my phone and it showing as unavailable on the macOs software. They then wanted to remotely view my iPhone to prove that VPN was running, so went through the process of doing that. They then wanted to remotely access my MacBook to view that, which I begrudgingly allowed and they didn't seem to do a lot. They then put me through to a supervisor (bare in mind this is 1hr 40mins after all the remote messing about), who told me that a VPN is not included in the EE Cybersecurity service. I explained that makes no sense since I am using it on my iPhone and that EE have forwarded me to Norton because of the issue - I was then told I should contact EE myself to inform them that the VPN service is not included in their product. I then contacted EE raise this again, but again didn't really get anywhere and was told the normal course of action is just to pass customers to Norton. I could easily use some expletives at this point for how frustrated I am after wasting over 2hrs of my time on this, and I'm still no further in accessing the product that I pay for.
I raised a complaint with EE to get this looked into and referenced the many people of this forum experiencing the same issue, but in all honesty I think EE need to understand their service a bit better. Either it's not included (which I could have been told in the first call and saved myself 2hrs) or it is and EE need to push back with Norton on this.
Apologies for the long winded response, this hopefully gives full context to anyone else reading and prevents anyone wasting their own time speaking to Norton.
Any suggestions on what to do next? Other than cancel the service and pay for something else?

Hi,
I'm having the same issue. Were you ever able to get an answer from Norton/EE on who owned the issue and, if so, the resolution?
(Don't fancy wasting a few hours via their call centres if I can avoid it).
Thanks.

Unfortunately I haven’t heard anything back after raising the complaint.

Hi @JamieMacGregor,
Welcome to the Community!
I'm sorry to hear about the trouble you're having. The best thing to do would be to speak with our team, as advised above. If they raise a complaint on your account then you'll recieve a message confirming this, and another when this is closed. If you're not happy with the resolution offered when this is closed then you can request that this is reopened within 28 days.

Hi @Rach_H
Are you able to provide any clarity on this VPN issue? Or can you direct someone from the EE team to do so on this platform? I appreciate the advice you've given regarding contacting the EE team, but as I hope you'll appreciate, I don't really want to waste another 2 hours of my day to end up getting nowhere with this issue.
A side note, I have looked at my EE Cyber Security application on my Mac and it would appear an automatic software update has occurred and I can no longer see the VPN option. If this has been done as a resolution of this issue that's a pretty sneaky move, particularly as the product was sold to many of us with the VPN service being provided.
I think many of us would like a clear explanation on this VPN issue please, otherwise this will just be a service I simply won't continue to pay for.
