Hi.  I set up a new ee contract and ported my old work number to this.  In most cases it works fine but for some reason some people seem to get sms and phone calls from me showing the original number not the ported one.   have an iPhone 14pro max and have double checked all settings and restarted but it still happens.  Any help would be appreciated.

Hi @andrewparky

Welcome to the community.

I've never seen those symbols in a phone number before. If it's been over 2 working days since your number transferred to us, I suggest speaking to our technical support team so they can run through some diagnostic tests with you. They may be able to refresh your SIM from our side, that may help clear this up.

Can you confirm this is affecting direct dialled voice calls & text messages specifically? And not just Apple-proprietry iMessages and suchlike?

Do incoming calls & texts to your ported-in number work as expected? If you text NUMBER to 150, what do you get by response?

I’m fairly sure it’s both text messages and some voice calls.  The response from 150 was the correct ported number

I also sent a message earlier to a friend who I message regularly via iMessage.  However it sent a text message and shows in my messages with his telephone number but with some strange symbols in the middle of the number

Can you post a screenshot or picture of these symbols? That may help.

FYI you have a short time after posting to edit, negating the need for multiple replies and/or corrections.

Can you make some test calls and send some test messages, to be sure? This will help ID if EE's network is using the correct details and whether this is just an issue within Apple's ecosystem.

The fix for both, is different.
