Wrong number on phone after port

Hello,

I've got the "wrong number showing on phone after port" problem and wondering if anyone has ever found a solution.

I have a Samsung galaxy A20e phone, brought my phone number back to Ee last Monday and all works ok ,correct number on calls and texts etc. But the phones sim card manager and about phone screen still shows the old number.

I've done a factory reset and a network reset to no avail,I've tried the sim in a Nokia phone and that also shows the old number, which suggests the problem lies with the sim card.

Phoned EE Tech but they just said to live with it.

I did think I might go to the shop to see if they could provide a replacement sim in the hope it works

Has anybody had this annoying problem and got it sorted ?

Cheers,

Del.

If you can borrow an Apple iphone from a friend, family, work colleague, etc, for a few minutes at most, you can use the iphone to edit the number that's on the sim card.

Once you've edited the number, stick the sim card back into the Samsung device, hopefully it should display the number that you want.

You need to ask for a network reset when you call EE.

But it doesn't make a bit of difference. It doesn't effect your phone or calls texts etc.

Thanks BrendonH

Will it correct the number on the phone though ?

Pity Tech didn't think of this when I phoned them.

It should correct it but it may not be in the format you like.

It could end up going 00447.....

Thanks Brendon, I guess that's better than a number that has no resemblance to thr one I'm using.

That happened to me when I ported over from giffgaff and the network reset sorted it out for me. Although I had to mess about for 2 days to get it done.

Thanks folks, I'll try the iPhone trick on the wife's phone if I can prise it from her 😉

Thanks 354, that worked a treat.

Excellent advice,  problem solved.

Actually it does make a difference.

Depending on the contract you have, your contract is linked to the number on the SIM card. You may well find your allowances at a basic level.

My mobile shows as 44.36 MB used out of an allowance of 2GB. My actual allowance is 25GB with unlimited calls / texts. Not sure if that allowance has changed?
