What do I need to do?

I am currently on O2. I have now received my new EE sim and sent the PAC code to EE. I need my phone tomorrow. What do i do?

  1. Insert the new EE sim now
  2. activate your new SIM
  3. wait 24 hours

So as I need by phone tomorrow for an important call, I should wait until Friday to insert my new sim?

Your new EE SIM will have a temporary number assigned when you first receive it. If a PAC was supplied as part of the order, that will be submitted when you first activate the new SIM onto EE's network.

A port-in date will be set then, usually the following working day. This assumes activation during normal working hours - if during the evening, add an extra working day to these timescales.

So what should I do if I am waiting for an important call tomorrow? As the caller will using my current O2 number, should I wait until Friday before inserting the new EE sim?

It would seem safest.

When did you give your PAC to EE? With your order?

It's common to receive split service on the port-in day where, for example, outgoing calls will work from your new phone but incoming calls go to your old phone - all should straighten out by the end of the day.

Only you can decide when to activate your new SIM and thus set port-in, depending on the timing of your important call.

If you activate your new EE SIM on Friday, then your port-in will likely be Monday, If you receive your important call before 5pm on Thursday, you could potentially activate the new EE SIM then, and port-in on Friday. Only you can decide.

Yes with my order.

Thanks @GodAtum, welcome to the EE Community too!

When you provide a PAC at the point of sale, you'll be assigned the latest eligible port date available, and this will sit pending on the account.

When your SIM then connects to our network, like @bristolian mentioned this will advance the port date forwards to the next one available.

Provided you don't use the SIM, your number shouldn't port before you need to make your call tomorrow.
