Want to retain my old number but they gave me a new one.

Hi! I just switch from a different provider to EE and I asked to retain my old number. I applied online and provided my PAC number. I received my new sim today and apparently I have a new number. 😭 Does it take few days for them to process to retain my old number? I’m really worried. 🥹
