Hi,
My phone/data contract is coming to an end on Jan 2nd, but I’m looking to upgrade to SIM-only before then and buy the phone directly from Apple with a trade-in deal.
A few questions:
1. Can I still use my current eSIM until my contract expires?
2. When will the phone effectively become mine to sell/trade-in? When the contract ends?
3. How quickly can I expect the SIM to arrive to activate and slot into the new phone?
Thanks

Your contract will not "expire" unless you explicitly give 30days disconnection notice or use a PAC/STAC to port-out. I suspect you're referring to your minimum-term, after which your contract continues on the exact same basis it does now.
A change from phone-plan to SIM-only plan is just that - a change of plan. There's no need to change a perfectly working SIM.

I meant more, if I went through the upgrade process and upgraded to a new SIM-only contract, will my current eSIM immediately cease working? Or can I keep using it in the time between getting the new SIM and buying the new phone I’ll use it for?

It's great news that you're looking to upgrade to a new SIM contract.
Don't worry, you can continue using your current SIM after you upgrade to a new SIM contract.
I'd recommend visiting our "How do I switch my eSIM?" Community web page for more information on transferring your eSIM when you get your new phone.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately, it’s still not clear to me if the SIM I’m upgrading to is eSIM or a physical SIM. No options are presented to me during the upgrade path.
Do you have a link to that webpage? Struggling to find it.

@mothrasattorney , if you have an ESim, then you do not need a physical SIM card, you just upgrade your sim contract and continue with the same sim such as an ESIM, not sure what you are expecting, as you do not need a physical SIM card, you just continue as you are now, just your plan will change to a sim only contract with the same ESim.
