Transferring to EE

I have placed an order for EE Sim only deal and asked to transfer my number from o2. I provided PAC and was told transfer will take place next working day. What will happen if this transfer takes place before I receive the new Sim? Will I lose my connection with O2 until the EE Sim is delivered?

@Howard66 : The port won't happen until you've received the EE SIM & activated it. It also will not occur on w/ends & bank hols.
