Hi,
I recently renewed my EE mobile broadband, and also, at the same time , got my non-smart-phone changed to EE (from O2) at the same time. EE have kindly sent me the new SIM....when i put it in my (non smart) phone it says "SIM restricted".....i have phoned O2 four days ago to unlock the phone so i could switch, and they assured me they would do it. They (O2) told me on saturday it would be unlocked by Tuesday, which is today, but it is not taking the new SIM.
Do you know what i can do? I have the PAC code ready.
If i buy a new (non smart) phone, will i need to go through unlocking process then,? or will that just accept the SIM card that EE have kindly sent me? (i do not use smart phones as they are awkward to carry about, and i am always on my laptop, so can just use that for emails etc)

@treez O2 should of sent you a code that you type in to the device to unlock it. All devices sold now are unlocked for any network.

Thanks, they now sent me unlock code via email...but when i put EE sim in phone , it doesnt even give me an option to input the code..it just says "SIM restricted"...i guess this is because some time ago, i put in more then three passcodes. So now its locked?
Strange thing is i havent put in any attempted code trys since they sent me the email.
Do you know how i can get out of this?

Hi @treez,
What is the full error message you see when you insert your EE SIM?
Does your phone still work with your old SIM?
What type of phone is it?

Thanks, it just says "SIM restricted".
Its not possible to type in any unlock code...as it doesnt offer you to do that.
The phone does work with my old SIM.
Its a SAMSUNG GT-E1270
(not a smart phone, just a soap bar phone)

Do you have another device you could test your EE SIM in @treez?

I have a smartphone which i bought on pay as you go some 7 years ago...but it got cut off becuase i never used it....i still have it lying around somewhere. Only other device is the EE mobile router but that wont take this SIM card because its for a phone?
I dont liek smartphones as theyre too big to carry around, and i always use my laptop as it can do simulations etc....i can get a new "bar of soap" phone for £10 so i may do that, and just put the EE sim inside that....i wont be able to order anythign for over a week though now as the bank have now accidentally cancelled my debit card.
