I changed my contract phone to sim only about 12 mouths ago and the sim is still showing the new sim number from my phone number and now I can not use it abroad as it is showing the wrong number

This is in Settings> About phone you are seeing a different number? And the number showing is a temporary number from before you transferred your number to us?
This number can not be amended manually on a Samsung phone, you may need to get a replacement SIM to update it as the number there is saved from when it first reads the SIM, so if the SIM had a different number on it at the time it will have saved that one even if the number on your SIM has since changed.
But it should not be effecting using the SIM abroad. What issue are you having and where are you travelling?
