RCS texting number incorrect after port

Hi,

I have recently moved back to EE and ported my number, which didn't go smoothly but is finally sorted. I can make and receive calls and SMS on my ported number.

The problem is RCS messaging. When I send one they appear to come from a different number, presumably the one that EE had on the SIM card.

I've checked the number in RCS settings and it's using the number provided to me. If I turn RCS off and back on it attempts to connect with the ported (correct) number but after a second it switches to the incorrect number and connects.

How can I fix this? I have a Galaxy S22.

Cheers

Andrew

I trust you're still having issues.

I can't believe this actually constitutes customer service.

I've been told to ring customer services, no joy. Robots as you've mentioned.

Been sign posted to shops, which are only offering an appointment only service.

I've also had a DM from someone here asking if they want to arrange a phone call, despite the same person telling me they don't have my account details.

24 months I've signed up for. Ombudsman and trading standards are my next steps.

Hi Matt,

I understand your pain. I'm now exclusively with BT/EE and being unable to contact anyone is very much a pain. I'd not have done business if I knew this was the case.

My case seems to have resolved itself as I've turned on RCS messaging today and it's resolving on the correct ported number.

It may well be that your situation resolves itself the same way, but more worrying is that you can't access HMRC based services. I had a problem with banking and had to change my number settings when porting. Go to settings and search for "number" and change what you can. That helped me.

Good luck

If your issue is related to RCS still, turn it off and use SMS for a couple of weeks. Then try again.

I know you're frustrated but Ombudsman and Trading Standards are big steps currently and will create far more work for yourself. You're likely within the cooling off period under distance selling regulations  so can cancel any contract if you want to.

I've had same problem. Seems the SIM card has retained the original number (according to settings) but it only affects RCS texting. Have ordered a new SIM which should arrive set to the ported number. Hopefully this will fix the issue.

I have a problem with RCS chats in my new Samsung. I signed a new contract with EE, I received a new phone with a sim card with the number (let it be 123). Using the PAC code I transferred my old number to EE (let it be 789). After transferring the number my phone works normally with the phone number 789, however in the settings and in RCS chats it still insists that my number is 123, which is why my friends receive messages from a foreign number. I tried to change it, I tried to delete the data of the "messages" application, however the phone still logs into RCS chats as a non-existent 123 and I can't force it to change. I don't even know if I should report this to EE (I couldn't find an email address) or write directly to Samsung

All I can advise is you switch off RCS and move to SMS. The benefits of RCS are marginal vs SMS and everyone I know uses Whatsapp / Telegram for messaging. Try turning on RCS after a week or two and you should find it has ported over.

I wasn't happy it didn't port with the number but the pain of going for a new supplier is greater than using SMS for a couple of weeks.

Thanks for joining us on Community @Jakub19

If you go into settings > about phone > what does it show as the phone number?

I have had the exact same problem since migrating from BT Mobile. I have looked into this issue on this forum and the web and cannot find a solution. Is there anyone who knows how to resolve it?🤔
