Primary and Secondary settings

I changed provider to EE and kept my old number. the new EE number is primary and my old number is secondary. some messages / outbound calls now do not go and I have to switch from secondary to primary - I just want one source.
When in Europe data roaming isn't available, yet it is in my package, and I think its to do with the secondary / primary settings being mixed up, how can i resolve this please?

When did you port your old no. to EE? When it does you will no longer need your Primary or at least swap your Secondary to it. Porting doesn't take place over the w/end.

To avoid doubt, do you mean ....

1) That you have got a new EE SIM but retained your existing provider, and are running them side-by-side? Or..

2) That you have got a new EE SIM and are porting your number across from your old provider?

If option 2, your old provider's service will cease when your port-in completes.
