Ported Number and Message and Phone Use New SIM Number

I have joined EE fromPlusNet and ported my number.  My Android phone works but Messages and Phone are using my new EE mobile number instead of my Ported original mobile number.

Hello @SMarren ,

Welcome to the community,

When did you port your number over and have you received a message to say the porting is complete?

Has your plus net SIM card stopped working?

Have you rebooted your phone?

I thought my number had been ported over with the welcome messages I received from EE with the new SIM card etc.  I hadn't realised that it actually took a few days and that the start date with the account and SIM card was different to the port date which was a few days later.  It now all works correctly.  I think if EE had provided the different date info at the start as to what happens and when  it would save a lot of these types of queries.  Thanks for your help.

@SMarren , glad you got it sorted and your all up and running now, that is good news, thank you for coming back and letting me know.

I have a similar problem. I switched from Plusnet to EE and ported my old number succesfully. The new  number supplied via the EE SIM changed to my original number within 24hrs. Now, though, I'm getting alerts on my iPhone to say that my number isn't associated with my iPhone and may be turned off in 23 days. What does it mean?

Hi @CaroDottie,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

If you turn off iMessage and Facetime and restart your phone before reactivating them, does it resolve the issue?

Thanks James. I turn off both those, powered down my iPhone. Turned it back on. Turned iMessage and Facetime back on.The alert on iMessage and Facetime still says: "This number is registered to your Apple ID but is not associated with this phone. You can keep using the number for Message and Facetime until it expires."  Then underneat that, in red, it says: Remove from iMessage and Facetime."

I've got 22 days left. Interestingly it says I've got two registered numbers. Both are my ported number.

Is your correct phone number displayed in Settings > Phone > My Number @CaroDottie?

James

There’s just the one phone number. The correct one.

But the alert is still showing in iMessage and Facetime.

Thanks.

Hi @CaroDottie,

Could you try removing the duplicate number and let me know if that resolves the issue?

Thanks

James
