Port from Plusnet to EE automatic?

Hi, I ported from Plusnet to EE sim only, ordered on the phone (as already have another EE sim) - I asked how porting works, I expected a day it would occur but advised once new EE sim arrives, insert and it'll port across there and then (I was sceptical). Today new SIM contract and the new number show in my EE account and I just received SIM today (it had another number printed on the packet) - inserted, got welcome to EE text etc and it works on EE but with the new number that came with sim card and not the ported number I'd give the PAC for.

Is  porting over automated and should I just leave the new EE sim in phone (but miss any calls while Plusnet still have control) or should I have a been given a date to do the port?

Previous ports, I've been given a date it'll happen.

Any help appreciated

Porting is automatic but is not instantaneous. It can take 1 working day from when you activate your EE SIM.
