I’ve had my current Android phone for five years. Back then my contract was part of my BT account. Because I needed a new SIM card when it arrived the number shown in About Phone has remained different to my actual number.
I’m buying a new Apple phone soon and would really like the correct number to appear in it.
Can this be done remotely by EE or does it need them to send a new SIM card?

@RayProud If you put your EE sim in the iPhone it’ll show correct. The number is settings on any phone is taken from the sim that’s first put in the device before your number is ported. There are a few tricks to get it to show correct though.

The About Phone phone no. doesn't matter. It's the SIM no. that is your phone no.
The no. of the Apple you buy will be that of the SIM you put in it.

An update. I asked a friend to ring the number shown in About Phone and he said a message played saying “Calls cannot be connected to this number”.
It would seem this number is dead. I look forward to hearing from EE.

Just ignore it. It's a red herring. CS can't change it for what it worth. This is a non-issue!

It looks like my last post has been deleted. Impressive! 😳
I tried editing the number shown on my account but because the process sends a text to that number it’s obviously not going to work. What purpose does it serve then? 🤨

@XRaySpeX , I appreciate your help but do find it odd that the number shown on my EE account is not the one that I’m billed for.
If you’re an employee can you point me to where I can ask for it to be corrected. Thanks.

I'm not! I'm just a user like you. This is a user discussion forum.
I thought you were talking about the About Phone setting on your phone itself. Now you are talking about your EE a/c?
