Phone Transfer

I'm trying to transfer my phone number from BT to EE on a sim-only contract. I placed the order on 28th July, BT cut me off on 1st August. An EE sim arrived that day and it didn't work. I've spent hours on the phone, people have promised to come back to me and don't and the latest estimate is another 5 working days to get my phone number transferred. They did manage to transfer my number to my wife's phone so she got all my work and social messages for a while. I now have a pay as you go sim as the only way to get a phone connection. Is this typical EE service?

No it isn't sorted at all. members of the care team have said that they will come back to me but, as I have come to expect from EE, haven't done so. I really regret agreeing to change from BT to EE as it's been a complete mess from start to finish. At the weekend, EE changed my wife's number to mine, so she got all my calls and messages. That was reversed but I still cannot get that number. Why is this so hard?
