My Son's SIM card has stopped working

My son had an old phone that broke a while back and for his birthday we got him a new (to him) iphone - but the SIM card doesn't. Not sure what to do....

@Lucy1234321  If it’s been over 3 months since it was last used it’s gone in to hibernation and you’ll need to call customer support to get it reactivated. If it’s gone over 9 months since last used you’ll need to get a new sim and that will have a new number.   A sim has to be used to retain the number because after 9 months its deemed as no longer in use and the number is taken back to be recycled

Thanks Chris_B I've tried calling 150, but can't get through to talk to anyone - maybe its a busy time... 

@Lucy1234321  Unfortunately EE don’t control the amount of callers wanting to speak with customer support, it’s a case of joining the queue

Just to clarify, is your son's line a PAYG one? Advice so far is assuming that.

Pay-monthly will be a different answer.
