Moving abroad - moving UK number onto to pay as you go e-sim

Hello

I am moving to Australia and will need to keep my number for all the various verification codes that are sent to my device (to get into apps / online security verification etc). I won't want to make calls or message from that number any more so it makes sense to have some sort of pre-paid e-sim that I am able to access online anywhere in the world.

Is this possible and if so, what are the steps I will need to take?

Thanks

EE only offers eSIM on pay-monthly, so if you move to PAYG you'll have a physical SIM.

It's otherwise perfectly possible to do what you propose, but after moving to PAYG your "new" SIM will need activating on EE's UK network before it will work abroad. Thus to allow for 30days notice, you should ensure cancellation of your contract is requested at least 31+ days before travelling abroad.

Also be aware of the hibernation policy that requires chargeable usage of all PAYG SIMs at least once every 179 days,
