@dolydaydream69   You only get 5G if you are a contract customer and you have 5G on that contract.   All contracts new include 5G.     If you’re on a legacy contract still you’ll need to upgrade to a new contract and if you’re on PAYG you’ll not get 5G anyway.    If you still require a replacement SIM card you can get one by going to an EE store with in date  photo ID or by calling customer service.

There's a popular misconception about a "5G SIM" when all EE SIM's support all radio techs from 2G to 5G.

To use 5G services, you need a 5G-enabled plan, a 5G-enabled device and to be in 5G-coverage.

@bristolian , if the SIM card is old, then the SIM card will not have 5G connection, I had to replace mine a couple of years ago, as it only got 4G, but otherwise you are right, unless the SIM card is old, before 5G became available, or are legacy SIM cards, then customers will need a replacement SIM card to get 5G so long as their equipment is 5G enabled.

The restriction on radio technology support comes from the SIM profile.

Any SIM issued since the launch of 4G in 2012 should have the necessary profiles to support 5G.
