The question says it - has anyone transferred their esim line from an older iPhone to the new iPhone 14 yet? If so, how did you do it? - with a QR code from EE, or using the Apple 'Transfer Line' functionality? I'm waiting for a new iPhone 14 Pro to be delivered (from Apple) and currently have an esim line on an older iPhone.

@tom_uk Make sure both devices are on iOS 16 and you can then Bluetooth the eSim over.
Step 1: Open the Settings app on your Apple iPhone.
Step 2: When the app opens, tap on the
"Cellular" option.
Step 3: Tap on the "Set Up eSIM" button above the Cellular Data section.
Step 4: After that, tap on the "Transfer From Another iPhone" option

Chris_B: Thanks. In fact I'm aware of that procedure.
I think what I'm looking for is confirmation from someone who's actually done it that it worked.

I tried to use the Apple quick transfer method when I set up my iPhone 14 Pro but it didn't work (same as it didn't when I set up my 12 Pro a couple of years ago). The QR code from EE did work though - thankfully they've added the option to download a QR code in the app now rather than having to go into a store to get one.

KevinStreet111: Thanks for your reply.
Interestingly, the advice from EE (on this page: https://ee.co.uk/help/help-new/getting-started-and-upgrading/setting-up-an-esim/how-do-i-use-dual-si... ) is to use the Apple quick transfer method! Failing that, they say to get a QR code. However, I can't see an option to download a QR code in the app on my existing iPhone. Can I ask where you found that option?

Chris_B, I expect to get my iPhone 14 in the next few days. I have an EE SIM in my iPhone now that I have had for several year and that is a PAYG SIM I use when I travel to the UK from the US. My US iPhone will have only eSIM capability. Is there a way to convert that PAYG SIM to an eSIM? I do have an account and it accepts my US credit card for my packs, so that should not present any issues. I tried asking in another thread but was told, incorrectly, that EE is only for UK citizens.

Yeah it is a bit hidden in the app.
From the main Home screen tap "Mobile plan", select the relevant number from the drop down (if you have more than 1 line with EE) then scroll down and tap "Check settings" in the "Settings" box. Scroll to the "Device and SIM" section and tap "Replace my SIM/eSIM". From there just follow the instructions on screen.
When you have generated and scanned the QR code you need to go back to the Home screen where you'll be prompted to verify that you requested the QR code. When you tap to verify it will send you a text message with a code to enter in the app and when that is done your line will disconnect on the old phone and connect on the new phone.

Just an update on this topic: I received my new phone yesterday, and the esim transfer from the old phone was very easy (as was the rest of the setup). I used the Apple utility throughout, and it all Just Worked. Well done Apple.

Sadly, when my new iPhone arrived, it reported that the EE SIM was NOT transferable to eSIM. Neither did it transfer my wife's SIM to eSIM. I'll keep an eye on the situation to see if EE, or anybody else, changes the policy and allows PAYG SIMs to be converted to eSIM.
