Hi,
I have an ongoing routing issue with my EE number 075896xxxxx, which was ported to EE.
The number works normally for outgoing calls/texts, and EE customers can contact me without any problem. However, calls and texts from other UK and international networks fail, often with “number not recognised” or the call ending immediately.
EE has so far suggested changing my number, but I don’t believe replacing a long-held number is a proper resolution to what appears to be a cross-network routing/number-portability issue.
There has now been an important development: Ofcom’s current numbering data shows Gamma Telecom Holdings Limited as the allocation holder for the underlying 075896 number block following the August 2026 update.
Official Ofcom data:
https://www.ofcom.org.uk/phones-and-broadband/phone-numbers/numbering-data
My individual number is still ported to EE, but now that the underlying block has an active allocation holder, I believe EE should reconsider the case and have its Number Portability / Interconnect team verify the current routing and liaise with Gamma if necessary, rather than simply asking me to change my number.
Has anyone else with an ex-Vectone 07589x number experienced the same issue, or successfully had the routing corrected by their current provider?

Hi Katie,
Yes, I’ve been in touch. Debbie from Executive Complaints confirmed that EE’s MNP team has raised and chased the issue with Gamma, but they’re still awaiting a response.
Unfortunately, after three weeks, the routing fault remains completely unresolved. Despite repeated escalations and follow-ups, there has been no meaningful progress.
I’m now waiting for the MNP team to provide a clear update and take the necessary action to finally resolve this issue.
I really appreciate your continued support with this.

Update – Important Information from EE MNP Team
I received a very helpful call from Deborah in EE’s MNP Team today.
She explained that my routing problem is not an isolated case. There is a wider group of customers across different UK networks experiencing the same or related issue.
Deborah confirmed that she and her manager are actively working with Ofcom, Gamma and other network providers to resolve the wider problem. This also explains why the investigation has already taken around four weeks, and I was advised it could take a few more weeks.
It was reassuring to finally understand why this has taken so long and what is happening behind the scenes.
A big thank you to Deborah for taking the time to explain everything clearly. I’ll update this thread when there is further progress or the routing issue is resolved.

Thanks for sharing your latest update @isdm
I hope the team have some good news on this for you soon.

Quick update and a request to anyone experiencing the same problem.
If you have a ported mobile number and EE-to-EE calls work, but Vodafone, O2, Three or other networks can’t call/text you, please report it to EE as an off-net routing / MNP (split-port) fault.
EE’s MNP team has told me my case is not isolated and that customers across different networks are experiencing the same or related issue. Mine has already dragged on for weeks.
Please test your number from other networks, report the fault to EE, get a complaint reference and ask for escalation to the MNP/Number Portability team. Also report it to Ofcom so the scale of this problem is properly recorded.
Customers shouldn’t have to give up long-held numbers because cross-network routing isn’t working.
The more affected people who report it, the harder it becomes for EE, other networks and Ofcom to treat these cases as isolated problems.
