Esim registration problems

Hi, i got my esim qr through the post today, I scanned qr, put my number in, serial number, named that line as personal, put the verification number in, when the code was supposed to come to my phone, which was a different phone to what i was setting the esim on, so that point the esim number was working, i got a code, put it in, put whatever else it wanted me to do and the activation was spinning round in iphone XR settings/mobile data and it had primary which is my sim card in phone with different number, then it said personal under that, line on, were there should have been the number of my esim number, it was showing 00 0000000000, clicked on it, tried to put my number in n save, just went back to the 0s again. The sim card in my other phone then lost signal and that was it, down goes my 2nd contract line which I expected it being a esim, and not so complicated as it is, or should i say, its bugs and poor procedure. I thought EE would sort it out on there side once id scanned QR and put info in, but no, after a 33minute wait on phone, i was told to go on ee.co.uk/simswap but id already been there before ringing, but now theres no esim code what can go to that number as my sim cards cut off, and esim not connected. Not happy with so called Tech support Agent, which are supposed to be a bit more clued up than 1st line support. I just got told to go to ee simswap. Very disappointed

@Mercianman   You are supposed to put your physical Sim card into your device that you want the eSIM on it then transfers the information from Sim card to your eSIM in your device when using the QR code.  With no sim in that device it has nothing to transfer to the ESim.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

Thanks for your help on this, the agent never explained this what you have told me, that was a question i asked, and he said it shouldn’t make sny difference. So it says on the little booklet with QR box Ty hat it can only be used once, does that mean I have to re order another esim replacement again via post? Could it not be sent toy email which I could scan with my iPhone XR and will it work now, even the sim has no signal now? Thanks for your advice, appreciate your help 👍🏻👌🏻

Hi @Mercianman,

Welcome to the EE Community. 🙂

It can take up to 24 hours for a new SIM to activate, although it's usually much quicker. Is it working this morning?

James

Hi James, it's still not working, I have not put the SIM in this handset as I wasn't informed to do so when I received the yellow QR booklet through post and I've scanned it so it says, only can be used once? Is it possible for me to pop my SIM into this XR and see if I can scan it again, if so do you advise to delete the one what's not worked and click add email again? Thanks for your reply, appreciate your help buddy 👍🏻

Hi @Mercianman,

Yes, the QR code can only be used once.

Have 24 hours passed since you first registered it?

James

No not until roughly 6pm today? Can ee send me a QR to email, I have all security info so they know ok am the same person and it goes to my email which is registered with them on account??

Hi @Mercianman,

I'd recommend waiting the full 24 hours before attempting to register a new eSIM.

James

What I've done James, is spoken to Tech support @ee, and there sending me a new SIM card with my other ee number on, already activated, and she very kindly has sent a email to give me a easy step by step guide which is very good, that's what I love about ee, they go that much further.

Is it ok if I get stuck and ask yourself, before I do the next step if I'm in any doubt.

Totally grateful for your help, and time.

Thanks

Shaun.
