Advice before switching iPhone AND Apple Watch from Vodafone to EE

Hi, new member in communities ....first post.

I have a couple of SIM contracts already with EE that i switched to easily from other providers. All smoothly done.

They are part of the discounted monthly options you get when you have broadband and i wish to do the same with Partners pay monthly contract now as well. She has a Vodafone monthly contract for phone and also has an apple watch (which appears to have its own number) but both are connected and she can make/receive calls on the watch when she doesnt have her phone.

I want switch to EE due to cost but want to make sure i understand that if i take a sim only contract then it is as easy as the other numbers I switched, with no complication regarding the watch specifically.

Has anyone done the same as what i need, both apple phone and watch to EE. Is there anything special i need to do? I dont see options for watch when ordering a SIM but does looks like you just connect the watch to the phone but i am worried the old Vodafone number (for watch) knackers the smooth process up.

thanks in advance for any advice.

T

Hey there @T_UK!

I hope you've been having a great weekend so far, and welcome to the EE Community too 😊

When it comes to switching over her main number to an EE SIM, this will be the same as with any other number where you just need to provide us with a PAC from Vodafone to port the number across.

For the Watch it's a little bit different, and this would most likely require a bit of downtime whilst the switch between networks is ongoing.

When you have a cellular Apple Watch on any network, this will be assigned its own number for billing purposes, but when it's activated alongside your iPhone it will receive calls and texts via your main mobile number.

At the moment it's linked with her contract on the Vodafone network, so once the number switches to EE this link will stop working.

You would need to request cancelling the watch contract with Vodafone, then once this is all cancelled and the number has transferred, set up a new Watch plan with us through the Apple Watch app.

Thanks for the (quick)  reply Peter.

Does this mean there is a cost for the standard SIM and then an extra cost for the watch Sim or does the watch use the data from the phone?

i suspected there may be a bit of to and from when the PAC code for the phone has been switched.

We don’t need to bring the watch number as well do we? I assume just the phone and then get a new EE number for the watch billing?

Thanks

Cheers @T_UK, the cost of the Watch Plan will depend on the SIM plan that you go for.

If you go for a SIM on an Essentials Plus plan or higher, then you get unlimited Watch data included as standard.

Alternatively if you go for an Essentials or No Frills SIM the Watch plan would need to be added separately, full details of you can check out here:

Add Mobile Data to Your Smartwatch | Watch Data Help | EE

You won't need to bring over the Watch number from Vodafone though, once added to your plan it'll be assigned its own number for billing, but like you see now it'll then share the main mobile number you port over.

Peter 😊
