Using the Roaming Bundle

Hi Community,

I am going to the USA for 5 days and was looking at the Roaming Bundle deal. As far as i can make out, all i can really do is purchase the £25 Roaming Bundle, or switch of my roaming data when i'm there and rely on WIFI networks when i want to use the internet.

Are there any other options, like purchasing daily? Also, with the £25 monthly bundle, when i get home and cancel it again, will it still charge me the full £25, or will it only charge the part of the bill cycle that i was using it?

I have two children, also with phones, so paying 3 lots of £25 for a 5 day trip seems a bit much to be honest.

  1. Outside the EU, if you are on contract, you may use your usual UK allowances there with up to 50 GB data per billing month if you have more, when you buy the Roam Abroad Pass for £25 / billing month or already have it as an Inclusive Extra or you have an EE Max Plan. Otherwise you will need to pay the charges or buy roaming add-ons as set out in https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming/roaming-costs/countries/usa.
  2. As you are on contract, just remember to text ROAMING to 150 before you leave UK to ensure the roaming ability is enabled on your account.
  3. The Roam Abroad Pass costs £25 per billing month from the billing month you order it (text ROAMING PASS to 150) until the billing month you cancel it (text STOP ROAMING PASS to 150). For all billing months during which you have the Pass it is charged at the full £25. However if the Pass is carried over from the 1st billing month to the next it will be charged pro-rata for that 1st month alone.

If you choose to not use the £25/month roaming add-on, you can pay-per-minute for calls, & pay-per-text for any messages - the costs are set out at https://ee.co.uk/help/mobile/roaming/roaming-costs > USA > Pay-monthly. You then choose whether to pay for a data roaming add-on, or rely solely on WiFi when indoors.

It'll take approx 15minutes of calls per number, for the pass to cover its own costs - your data usage could then be considered free. If your entire trip falls within the same bill cycle, and you ensure cancellation before the bill date, then you shouldn't even pay the full £25.

Regardless of which billing option you choose, remember to ensure the (free) roaming facility is enabled - ensuring you have access to foreign networks. This is the ROAMING text to 150.
