I’m going to the USA in May for a three holiday.
as part of my contract I have the roam abroad pass inclusive extra. Am I able to use my contract allowances (unlimited data/calls/texts) as normal without any extra charges or do I need to buy a pass to be able to use them?

Yes, except you are limited to 50 GB data per billing month.
As you are on contract, just remember to text ROAMING to 150 before you leave UK to ensure the roaming ability is enabled on your account.
