Roaming refresh

JordanTA
EE Knowledge Specialist

What’s changing?

  • We’ve made non Europe Zone roaming easier with EE. From the 4th of December we'll be launching our new roaming passes that you can buy from the moment you land
  • This means we’re removing a number of Inclusive Extras passes and add-ons listed below and you will no longer be able to buy a pass before you travel
  • For customers with inclusive EU Roaming today or iPhone Full Works plans, nothing is changing and those roaming benefits will stay the same. To see our new plans with roaming included click here

How can I see the new prices?

What if I don’t buy a pass when I’ve landed outside of the Europe zone?

  • You can use minutes and texts, but out of bundle rates will apply
  • You will not be able to use data
  • Out of bundle rates vary dependent on the zone follow this link to find the most accurate costs for your trip
  • We recommend buying a pass to cover all usage across minutes, texts and data

I received a text about my roaming products being removed, which products are no longer being sold?

  • The following products will no longer be available to select from the 4th of December. If you already have one of these products, it will continue to work until you are notified that this has been removed from your account
  • Roam Abroad Pass, Roam Further Pass, Roam Abroad Inclusive Extra, Roam Further Inclusive Extra, Travel Data Pass, World Select Talk and Text, Anywhere Minutes, Anywhere Texts

What happens when my product is removed?

  • You will receive a text from us when the product has been removed with more information on our new offers and instructions on how to purchase them

Inclusive Extras:

  • We will be in touch with details of when your Inclusive Extras will be changing. There'll be two new products; one for EU zone roaming and one for ROW 1 zone, which covers 33 destinations

How will this affect my travel in Europe?

  • There are no changes to the way you use your device in Europe immediately as part of this change
  • We have introduced a new EU roaming Inclusive Extra for customers on plans that can select a benefit as part of their plan
  • In 2025, there will be an EU 7-day pass which will make it cheaper for customers who pay our daily roaming charge in the EU to use their device for a full 7 days

@_MrR_ there nis a 14 day cooling off period, so would have to make sure that you do it within that time.

Let us know how you get on.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

Unsure as to where the Guide's info came from then, quite frustrating to not be told the truth.

Has there been any update since about bringing this access to Zone 1 to Full Works customers?

Mine actually says, when looking at the app and clicking on add-ons and then roam further pass, roam rest of the world, so a bit confusing.

Same here. The app says rest of world but the pdf of my bill this month says 5 extra countries.

I’ve taken the plunge and changed to full works, this is how it looks at the moment:

  • Had a text saying ‘We’ve removed your Roaming Pass Rest of World Inclusive Extra’ (my selected option on my last tariff)

The app shows

  • I can add one inclusive extra, options are Netflix Premium, Google One Premium AI, TNT Sports or Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (I’ll hold off selecting one till I know if I’m keeping this tariff)
  • Full Roaming (believe this is just an account marker to show roaming is enabled on the account, full roaming being it’ll work anywhere with the option to select Roaming in EU only so roaming only works in Europe)
  • Wi-Fi Coverage Boost
  • Roam in EU (says use your UK data, minutes and texts while abroad in the EU)
  • 5G Standalone
  • Network Prioritisation
  • Roam Further Pass (says use your UK data, unlimited minute and unlimited texts while abroad in rest of world)

The roaming section of the website (and also roaming by text to 150 say)

  • Greece is included
  • Turkey needs the £5 for 24 hours or £25 for 7days pass

Let’s see on Sunday.

I believe the Full Works plan includes data for my Apple Watch. I went to set that up and it quoted £7 but said if you’re due a discount, it’ll be applied. Thought I’d double check that one when I’m back in the UK if I am sticking to this tariff. Great if it is free on this deal. Not worth it to me if chargeable. My watch is never that far from my phone.

To add to my experience in UAE (where I no longer need a pass to roam), I was in Montenegro yesterday and received the usual text telling me I was roaming and needed a pass etc. I did not add a pass, switched on data roaming and everything worked perfectly well with no issues. I’m back in EU zone now, returning to UAE next week, so will see how it’s goes.

@_MrR_  It will be interesting to see how you get on in Turkey !

(Just FYI ….. the £7 for your AW gets adjusted on your bill. )

@_MrR_ , that is the all rounder, Google is not on Apple, so you must have Android, Apple has full works and Android has all rounder, they are slightly different.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.

Not sure what you mean here.

There is an Apple and non-Apple version for both the All Rounder and Full Works plans, neither type of plan are exclusive to Apple or Android. The only differences is the Benefits offered.

Full Works for iPhone includes Apple One.

Full Works (non-Apple) includes those Inclusive Extras outlined by @_MrR_ above.

Hey @Schockwave ,

As @Matt_124  said, there are two versions of full works. Despite living and breathing all things Apple, I deliberately opted for the non-Apple version of the plan as the Apple version isn’t worth it for me (I already pay a small mortgage to Apple each month for the top family plan so the ungrateful kids get the benefits too) 😀

Back on point though, I think perhaps this move to Full Works was the right one for the price point I’m paying.

I’m in Athens right now, roaming on COSMOTE (which will become Telekom GR at some point but one for another post) getting their full 5G experience! Still no sign of VoLTE (4G calling when roaming) on EE but again, nothing a little bit of patience won’t sort.

ANYWAY… I got a welcome text from Montenegro which gives hope. Check it out

Today’s message, welcome and BOOM!

IMG_3408.png

I scrolled up through a mountain of EE messages and found this one from last October when I was on a plan with Roam Further added. Basically, welcome, it’s gonna cost you!

IMG_3409.png

Finally, just to check if I was missing a trick, I used the roaming calculator whilst signed into My EE and that too thinks I’m paying.

Point being (and we’ll know for sure on Sunday), it looks like things are being changed to include ROW1 for Full Works customers!

If so, happy days 😀

Oh and thanks @ukms , I’ll get my Apple Watch plan added next week as well then! 😎

@_MrR_ @Michael_D

Just to add and hopefully finally put the topic to bed, I have just checked my latest bill and CONFIRMED that we now have access to our allowances in RoW Zone 1 on new Full Works plans at no extra cost.

My allowances now shows the new line of Unlimited ROW 1 minutes and texts!

This wasn't present on my bill last month, so it looks like the change has finally been made! (Image will need to be approved before being visible)

Extremely strange for this to go live and not have the T&Cs or the Guides be aware of it, but not going to complain in the slightest. What a relief!

Unsure how this has been rolled out, so it is worth people checking this section of the PDF Bill before travelling to ensure it shows as above.
