Problems Roaming in Martinique - can NOT make local calls!

I had the same problem apparently reported by others when roaming from the UK to Martinique (this February 2025). Using a Samsung S9 and also on a Samsung S20.  Dialling a local number, even with adding the 596 country code (for Martinique) defaulted to the country code for Guadeloupe (590) and the calls were cut off.  Luckily we did not have to contact anyone urgently and had our hotel desk call for us.  I do not know if emergency numbers would work; again luckily we didn't need to use these.
Help please to those roaming in  Martinique!
Just to be clear, Guadeloupe and Martinique are completely different countries.
I unfortunately did not try forcing my phone to a different network in Martinique, if there is one.

Hi @PeterBkr

Under call settings - other call settings - turn off roaming assistance.

You'll need to manually add the area code.

Thanks
