Not receiving SMS

I bought an eSIM with Airalo that provides just data.

I need to access my accounts but to do so requires SMS verification which I’m not receiving.

Airalo have advised that it is possible for me to receive SMS when I switch to the primary line.

The primary line for is labelled ‘business’, perhaps because I have a business account with EE. But there is no phone number associated with this line, so when I turn the line on, with data roaming on also, I have no service and still not receiving SMS.

How can I add my phone number back onto this line? Can you advise me on how I can receive SMS?

I'm also can’t make any texts or calls so I’m struggling to receive any help from EE.

Thank you

Where are you roaming?

SMS ain't data. So data roaming is irrelevant.

If you have no mobile number associated with your phone's primary line then you have no SIM in it. Put a SIM in it.

I'm in India.

There is a SIM in my phone because I never took my original UK EE sim out, I only bought data on a eSIM using the app called Airalo. That's why it's so strange because I don't understand how it can be that there is now no number associated with my phone.

What makes you think you have no mobile number associated with your phone? The no. is on the SIM that's in it.

Are you on contract or PAYG? Had you used that SIM for making calls or texts in UK before you left to go abroad?

If you are on contract, did you activate roaming on your EE a/c before you left UK by texting ROAMING to 150? Having a roaming billing add-on doesn't of itself activate roaming on your a/c. Having roaming activated on your EE a/c, not just on your device, is crucial to using your contract SIM abroad.

Often just rebooting the phone is the simple remedy. Also try selecting a network manually rather than auto.

Otherwise if you are on contract you need to call CS to get your roaming activated. Try calling CS on the Freephone no. in my sig. on Skype over WiFi. It should be free.

Yes that’s I would have thought but apparently not.

I am on a contract and yes I was using the sim for calls and text in the UK before I left.

I didn’t make that call to 150 and now I can’t make any texts or calls at all, all my calls fail.

I will try rebooting my phone and then calling that number over Skype.

That pix seems to say both SIMs are switched OFF. Try clicking on the '>'.

That was just to demonstrate that there is no number associated with either sim.

I have tried every combination of turning the lines on and off.

Are you still paying monthly for your EE contract?

When were you last in UK & when did you last use your UK SIM?

For the purposes of resolving this issue, forget your extra local roaming SIM - it's irrelevant and complicating the issue.

The problem here is that you are trying to use your EE SIM abroad - whether for calls, texts or mobile data is immaterial - and you appear unable to?

The advice in the previous post above mine, covers that.
