Hello,
I’m currently travelling abroad, I sent one SMS message but appear to have been charged twice for the same message, as well as 3 times for messaging a number that I don’t know but accordingly to google appears to be linked to Apple iMessage activation (07903553650).
It appears the only way I can dispute the charges is to call EE which will currently cost me £2.52 a min
Has anyone else experienced this?

Funny, I can! Never topped up Skype.

Apologises @XRaySpeX after your message I tried again, it had been applying the incorrect country code at the start which is why it charged.
@Katie_B I was able to speak with a lovely agent who removed the charges but advised in the 8 years of working at EE she had never seen this and wasn’t sure why they had been applied.
I have applied a £0 spending cap to prevent any similar charges.

I received a charge of £4.94 from EE, saying that I messaged this exact number 07903553650 while I was abroad. My phone was off the entire trip and I never connected to a network. After querying with EE they had no answers and eventually said they would refund me as a 'one time exception' after I said I want to raise a complaint. Sounds like a scam to me!

In January, while in India, i have had the charges to the same number totalling to £12.16. Unable to understand the charges and who this number belongs to, i called Customer Services earlier. Spoke to a very helpful agent, they checked with their manager. unable to tell me what it was. they gave me partial credit as good will. But my point was not answered as to how do i avoid this in the future.
searching google for the number, the first hit was this thread! clearly an issue and glad i am not alone on this within EE.
reading the thread, i too will set my spend cap to 0.

Hi there @BShah
Thanks for posting on the community.
If you activate iMessage when in the UK the activation number (07903553650) will be included within your plan allowance and you shouldn't have to activate again when abroad.
The Spend Cap that you have set up would stop the iMessage activation charge and any other charges shown on the Set up and manage Spend Cap page.
Leanne.

Yes I have four charges same number. It says I was in EU which I wasn’t. I will complain about this to EE.

Yes, I have this problem every time I go abroad and even I have no roaming I still get charged. I spoke to EE and I got credited for the charges.
