Changing from contract to payg

Hi there

We came to Turkey and it looks like we will be here longer than expected due to family health issues.

Is there a way to keep my number and move to payg or to cancel my account while I am in Turkey?

Thanks in advance

Firat

@fyurday  if you’re still with your contract term you can pay off your remaining contract term but you’ll not be able to change the pay as you go whilst you’re outside the UK as your SIM card will not work as a pay of your SIM card until you’re back within the UK. It just doesn’t activate as a PAYG when trying to do this when abroad.

To contact EE Customer Services dial 150 From your EE mobile or 0800 956 6000 from any other phone.

@fyurday : You can give 30-days notice of cancellation and ask for it to be moved to PAYG but it won't work abroad until you return it to UK and use it on EE's home network.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Home Broadband & Home Phone or Option 2 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP

Thank you

I am actually out of contract so nothing to pay off and I am on E-sim so not a physical sim.
I am trying to see my options to not to pay £64 a month while I am away for months maybe a year.

so do i need to call from abroad or is there a way on app to do these options?

Thank you

Thank you

so to cancel my account and move to payg do I have to call from abroad or is there a way to do this on my app?

You need to phone CS to cancel.

eSIMs are not available on PAYG.

Just to reinforce one point that has potentially got missed here. You can give your cancellation notice whilst abroad and your phone will continue to work as a pay-monthly while that 30day notice period runs.

The moment your contract is cancelled and your SIM becomes PAYG, it will stop working until it is used in the UK. There is no workaround for this.

If you have friends / family in the UK, you could ask them to pick up a PAYG SIM card from another network (e.g. VF). They’re about 99p in most shops.

Get them to pop the sim in a phone and activate it.

In the interim, you text PAC to 65075 and get a pac code and give it to them.

They can then port your number off your EE contract (so you’d stop paying the £64 a month as the 30 day notice doesn’t apply when porting out) onto the VF PAYG sim.

Once the number has moved, they can either send you the sim to Türkiye. Or even generate a eSIM QR code and send that to you.

So long as they have made a call in the UK (even to a freephone 0800 number) then you’d be good to go.
