Received the confirmation text that I can use my minutes to call in the EU and UK same as when I'm in the UK. However, no calls are going through. Please advise!

Regardless of any billing add-on, your ability to get coverage abroad (which calls, texts & mobile data rely on) is dependent on roaming being activated - which allows your phone to connect to foreign networks.

Have you used your phone abroad previously, did you receive a welcome text message on first arrival abroad? These are good evidence of roaming being enabled if so. In these cases, manually cycling through all available local networks often resolves issues - toggling flight mode can have the same effect.

If not...On PAYG, roaming is auto-enabled once your phone is used in the UK first. On pay-monthly, this needs to be enabled manually - usually by texting ROAMING to 150 before leaving the UK. Did you do this?

If you are on pay-monthly and now find yourself abroad without having enabled roaming, your only recourse will be to contact CS to request it activated. You can either contact +44 7953 966150 from another working phone, or +44 800 9566000 using a web-calling app such as Skype over WiFi.

Hello @d5222 ,

\Welcome to the community,

Did you activate roaming on your account? This would only need doing if on contract, pay as you go are automatically enabled.

Did you receive the welcome message from EE/

If yes to both, have you tried a manual search, there should be no reason why you cannot get a network there, I should know I have been there.

If you did not activate roaming on your account, then you will need to call EE using something like Skype for free with the free number to activate it.

To contact EE customer service dial 150 from your mobile phone or ring customer service for free using Skype or another phone: +44 800 079 8586 or +44 800 956 6000.
Hi

Roaming is enabled on my account and I have done so before in the EU. I got the confirmation text when I landed and it says my phone is set to roam in Switzerland. Weirdly, my 4G is working perfectly but my calls inside Switzerland and to the EU are not working and an automated voice says ‘your connection is blocked for this destination’.

I will try revolving through the carrier options to see if that resolves it.

Many thanks

Can you clarify what you mean by "my 4G is working perfectly"?

Try manually swapping between local networks, check if the symptoms are the same or even if the voice differs. This will ID whether the problem is specific to the Swiss network, or more general.

Thanks. I mean that my data allowances for going on the internet is working well, I just can't place phone calls.

The different Swiss carriers all have the same problem.
