Hi,
I'm currently in NZ. I received the text from EE on landing with the link to purchase a roaming pass. However it says to turn off WiFi. When I do that the link fails with no Internet connection so I can't access it to buy a pass.
I have data roaming switched on, have phone set to select any network operator and did text roaming to 150 before I left the UK.
How can I purchase a pass? I have to switch WiFi back on in order to access the EE app and this community.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

The "mobile data" toggle switch enables the use of mobile data. The "data roaming" toggle switch enables data whilst roaming, i.e. not on your home network
Try manually swapping between local networks using your phone's network selection menu. See if the issue persists on alternate operators - assuming you are still not able to use 2Degrees.

The link to purchase a pass abroad is whitelisted precisely for this reason.
Does your phone show a connection to any Kiwi network? From your receiving the welcome text I would assume you do, but a network connection is necessary to use any of calls, texts or mobile data.

Hi,
Thanks for the very quick response.
Yes, it is showing 2degrees. It maybe that the signal strength isn't good enough where I am? it's showing 4 bars with an R above them. I'm physically in the same place as when I initially switched the phone back on after landing.
I'll try again tomorrow elsewhere and see what happens. This may be a daft question but should I have mobile data switched on as well as data roaming? I've tried with and without with the same result. I want to get it right when I try tomorrow.

Yes, if you wanna use data anywhere in the world, not just roaming.

Thank you, trying a different network worked.
It would be so much easier if you could buy a pass via the app or in advance!
