Hi,
If I don't pay for roaming whilst abroad, can I still use WiFi where it's avaiable? I"m on a PAYG.
Going to Lanzarote tomorrow and won't be using my phone much, so am hoping the hotel's WiFi is good enough to pop on for what I need.
Thanks so much, Helen

Roaming is not something you pay for, it's a free facility - but what you may be confused with is a billing add-on which reduces the cost of using your phone abroad. Ensure you have used your phone in the UK first, else it will not connect to any foreign networks.
WiFi is just a connection between your phone and a broadband router, and is totally independent of any mobile network.
Be aware making or receiving any voice calls, sending any text messages or using any mobile data - over a mobile network - will incur roaming charges. You may use any internet-based functions over WiFi at no cost.

Yes, you may use WiFi abroad at whatever cost the WiFi hotspot provider charges but be aware that if you attempt to make any dialled calls or send any texts over WiFi Calling you may be charged as if you were making them over the mobile network, providing you can make them at all.

Thanks so much. I didn't know about WiFi calling and already have it disabled somehow, so hopefully will be ok.

Thanks so much, I appreciate the clear explanation. I'll be using WhatsApp, which I think will be ok.
