What's the difference between a ee Pay monthly sim and a PAYG one?

I've seen it written somewhere that if you swap from a monthly plan to PAYG  keeping the same number you need to ask for a new SIM

Apparently not all ee agents discussing this  change know that .

@Zuleika : No, you should be able the continue using the same SIM. You 1st have to call CS to give 30 days notice of your contract & ask to be moved to PAYG. Your SIM then takes on a PAYG plan.

If you think I helped please feel free to hit the "Thumbs Up" button below.

To phone EE CS: Dial Freephone +44 800 079 8586 - Option 1 for Mobile Phone & Mobile Broadband or Option 2 for Home Broadband & Home Phone

ISPs: 1999: Freeserve 48K Dial-Up > 2005: Wanadoo 1 Meg BB > 2007: Orange 2 Meg BB > 2008: Orange 8 Meg LLU > 2010: Orange 16 Meg LLU > 2011: Orange 20 Meg WBC > 2014: EE 20 Meg WBC > 2020: EE 40 Meg FTTC > 2022:EE 80 Meg FTTC SoGEA > 2025 EE 150 Meg FTTP
Thing is I've done all of that but issues remain despite many conversations with various agents.
Now I have the sim they sent on the 17th in my phone ,I got another message on the phone on the 21st saying "a new sim is on it's way ". Hence my question.

@Zuleika   There was once a need for a new sim but that no longer applies.
