I had a sim card I used last September/October. I am planning to come back to the UK next May and want to use the same sim card. Is this possible?
Can I load the card in Canada before I travel or do I need to be in the UK to start the plan.

Oct. to May is 7 months, long enough to cause it to go into hibernation.
EE PAYG SIMs are deactivated after 6 months of non-chargeable use. You then have a further 3 months to call EE to reactivate it before it is lost completely.
You needed to make a chargeable action like making a chargeable call or text, topping up or buying a Pack or Add-on, not just using your mins, texts or data from your pack.
If you've used it before you can start it again from anywhere once you've got it out of hibernation.

@RondeauJoe The SIM card has probably gone in to hibernate and you’ll need to call customer service to see if can be reactivated.
Please read THIS
if it is or once it’s activated you can top it up where ever you area
